Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery is a full-service farm that uses the sustainable farming methods. It has attracted many guests around Metro Vancouver to visit their market, U-Pick, kids play area, wine tasting bar, and most importantly, seasonal berry waffles. All these are topped with live music performances. Krause Berry Farm is located at 6179 248 St, Langley Township. It is a perfect place to spend your weekend with your family.
Strength: Very good waffles. U-Pick strawberries are one of the best strawberries you can get.
Weakness: Too many people, no social distance control.
Beautiful outdoor eating area
Krause Berry Farm has been closed for a while due to COVID-19, and just recently opened as we enter the strawberry season. They currently offer fresh berry custard pies and pies in jars online. U-Pick strawberry does not open every day, so you would have to check their Facebook page either on the day of your visit, or the day prior. Most people come here for U-Pick strawberry and their famous seasonal berry waffles. Krause Berry Farm has created a rear eating area that is very spacious and beautiful.
Packed with guests but U-Pick has adequate space
COVID-19 doesn’t seem to steer away guests from visiting Krause Berry Farm with their family. Even though we all had to check the opening status online early in the morning, the farm was packed at 9:30 AM in the morning. There was good social distance measure in place in the farm where each family occupies 2 rows of strawberry plants, skipping 1 aisle in between. You can see a small garden in front of the line up for waffle. They are for U-pick flower, selling 10 stems for $12.
Lack of social distance control for the waffle lineup
I was a little disappointed with the lineup for the waffles and coffee. There were 6 feet social distance posters along the winding line-up path, but most guests are not even keeping a 3 feet distance. The lineup was about 20 minutes and perhaps they were eager to get their waffles. Regardless, there was no staff on-site to implement the rules on the Provincial Health Order. One of the good things Krause Berry Farm has done was to have a live performance at the eating area.
Basket of Strawberry $18
Krause Berry Farm does not allow guests to bring their own container at this time. One of the smart things they have done was to charge for full price as if you have picked a full container of strawberry to reduce contact. There are 3 sizes to purchase. Small Basket for $5.00, 4 Litre Bucket for $18.00, and 8 Litre Bucket for $36.00. We have purchased the 4 Litre bucket and filled it with strawberry. When we measured it at home, we picked 6 pounds of strawberries. They are plump and juicy. The best way to enjoy these ripe strawberries that are just picked is to put them in your mouth and simply pull on the stem. The strawberries are just ripe enough to be separated from their stem, leaving you a mouthful of fresh, sweet strawberry.
Strawberry Waffle $11
Krause Berry Farm serves one of the best strawberry waffles you can get in Metro Vancouver. The waffles are fluffy and crispy, made right in front of your eyes. It is topped with fresh sliced strawberries with whipped cream. The ingredients are so simple, but it is so good that no words can describe it. You really have to come here yourself to try it. The 20 minutes wait in the line is definitely worth it.
604 Food Critic Assessment
We have been waiting for Krause Berry Farm to open, and they did not disappoint. The U-Pick strawberries are just ripe and sweet that the store-bought ones simply cannot compare. Waffles are simple but legendary, even though the lineup was a bit long. It is the perfect place to spend your weekend with the family. Remember to check on Krause Berry Farm’s Facebook page if you plan to come here for U-Pick.
